DMZ

The previous evening we had left Pyongyang and driven through to Kaesong, staying in a traditional style hotel that had ondol heated floors. Just as well as it was pretty nippy and that was the only heating

 There was a shortage of rooms so all 3 women of the group shared - just enough room at the edge for our bags. Sleeping on the heated floor was a little like sleeping on an electric blanket.

The door was only covered with thin paper so that didn't exactly provide any insulation

However we didn't tarry in the morning; we headed off for the DMZ.
First stop was the building where the Armistice Talks were held - below, in the white, is a young Kim Il Song

 I just loved the pictures of the guys with their guns - that certainly doesn't look too conciliatory

 We saw a lot of these monuments around - usually to mark a visit by the Great Leader and showing his signature.

Here's the DMZ from the North

 They are actually a bit more relaxed with their visitors than the South.
