On a hot day in New York....

...find some trees and shelter.
So I headed for The Cloisters - this is part of The Metropolitan Museum located further north and set in Fort Tryon Park - beautiful big trees - and this is just the subway station.

Then a 10 minute wander
with a lookout over the Hudson River




local wildlife
and then The Cloisters...


It was purpose built to house medieval arts - this is the cafe !

and tapestries - the most known are the Unicorn ones







and various styles of icons.

This one below is stunning - I had studied it when doing an essay at Art School.
The detail is amazing






I thought the wings were interesting in the way they were attached to the angel's body
